As you can see in this pic, the two of them had quite a time. I was out on the bike when this all went down, but I'm glad to know P + E got a head start on the ancient practice of boys doing things with shopping carts other than their intended use. Me and my friends back in Milwaukee used to get chased by cops for activity like this!
We're still holding strong here at home. Pablo's temperature us still in check, so no CHLA run. Based on the purple dots all over P's body, we are assuming his platelets are in the pits, and that there's a fever forthcoming. We're ready to run out the door at a moment's notice when and if the time comes. In a way we are looking forward to this last hospitalization, should the fever materialize. It will be the bookend on this chapter of our lives.
What's funny is that we attended our friend Justin Meldal-Johnsen's birthday party (click here and scroll down to see two pics of JMJ + Har Mar Superstar) last night in the upstairs dining room at Malo. And this evening, I attended the album release party for Sara Lov, an artist we publish, in that same room. The only two parties we've attended in Malo's second story dining room since my birthday dinner on May 17 2008—the night Pablo was diagnosed with cancer.
I love looking for rhythms in the normal course of life. There's something about Jo Ann and I being in that room last night that beings us full circle in this journey. This isn't Nostradamus-peering-into-chalice-of-wine kind of s**t, but it's close....
