Pablo is sleeping, and well medicated via his new epidural. He was brought up to PICU direct from the O.R.-unusual that they skipped the post-op step. When we got to the PICU room, P was awake, surrounded by nurses and docs. He had (still has) a tube up his nose (running into his stomach), a diaper (he had a b movement on the table, and another when we got to the room (no relation to our arrival) and a second drain-this one coming out of the left side. Of course, P has got his old friend Mr Catheter back in the scene as well.
Being back in the PICU is cool cos of the extreme attention Pablo gets from the staff. The gnarly thing is, we had to vacate our room in 4 West! We moved everything into Jo Ann's car. We're hoping to move into a regular room in tomorrow, and we're hoping to go back to 4 West.
I spoke to Dr Koh, the attending urologist. He said P should be in a regular room by tomorrow. The PICU will be keeping a close watch on his urine output and will be pulling frequent blood labs. Good marks in both of those areas will get him a Get Out Of PICU pass.

We were so happy to see you guys. Pablo is so adorable; his spunk is amazing. What resiliency! We are thrilled to hear the great news about the 2/3 of the kidney and are doing constant positive histology prayers...Will wait for good news on that front.

I meditated and lit a candle this morning for Pablo - for all of you. It was one of those tall, glass religious candles you get in the ethnic foods aisle of the grocery store. The ones for a buck thirty-nine? My fave: Angel de la Guardia. The label has this beautiful angel, wings spread, walking protectively behind two small children. The prayer on the label reads: "Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here. Ever this day be at my side to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen." They burn for seven days. I bought A BUNCH!! I am so with you guys! Love love LOVE...Jennifer

The prayer that Jennifer mentions in the above post brings back memories of when I was Pablo's age. I knew that prayer then but now something has been clarified..."to whom God's love commits me here" sounded like "to whom God's love come minced meat here." Glad that's cleared up!
